We treat a large number of people with back discomfort in our West Palm Beach office, and Dr. Dennis has noticed that many cases of back issues stem from the sacroiliac (SI) joint. Investigation has demonstrated that about one quarter of all back pain begins in the SI joint, and now new research confirms what we have observed in our office: chiropractic is an effective method for treating this issue.
In the study released in the Journal of Bodywork and Movement Therapies, 32 women who suffered from sacroiliac joint dysfunction were split into two groups and asked to participate in one of two treatment therapies. one group received a chiropractic adjustment only at the sacroiliac joint, and the second group received an adjustment to the sacroiliac joint and the lumbar spine.
Researchers noticed greater improvements in both pain and movement immediately following treatment, two days post-treatment, and 30 days after for the patients who received high-velocity low-amplitude manipulation to both the sacroiliac joint and the lumbar spine. This asserts that chiropractic manipulation applied to these two areas offers both short term and lasting results for sacroiliac joint pain sufferers even with just a single treatment session.
Therefore, if you are dealing with sacroiliac joint issues, or live with back and leg problems and would like to see whether your sacroiliac joint is the root, a visit to our West Palm Beach office could be the first and best step towards improvement. Give our office a call today at (561) 966-6171.
